The Furness Social Care Learning Resource Service (FSCLRS) was put in to place because of the shortage of Social Care workers in the Furness Area. The project has been developed by a partnership between Adult Social Care, Furness College, Furness Enterprise, Barrow Sixth Form College and the Learning and Skills Council.
Any person currently studying a qualification in Social Care, from any training provider is able to utilise this resource. Moreover, anyone wanting to further their personal development and who are looking for the next step on the learning ladder can gain information from this service. The service has a number of internet linked computers and an extensive range of reference books, journals CD-ROMs and DVD’s. Personal callers are made welcome into the resource centre, and staff on hand are able to signpost candidates in the appropriate direction.
In order to enable a fair and accessible service to everyone in the Furness, Millom and Ulverston areas, we offer an outreach-style service where information and advice can be given using a diverse range of information exchanging methods, such as telephone, emails and site visits.
The Social Care Learning Resource Service (SCLRS) can be booked for exclusive use, either over the telephone, or on an individual basis, for example, by tutors.
The SCLRS does not close at lunchtimes, and Valerie Moore and Thomasina McNaughton work alternate late-nights on Thursdays.
